COSMIC MESSAGE
NGC 1097 is a spiral galaxy located about 45 million light-years away in the constellation Fornax. Its blue spiral arms contain pinkish star-forming regions. The galaxy appears to have wrapped around a smaller companion galaxy, visible below and to the left of the center. Deep exposures also hint at faint, mysterious jets extending from its core.
