This composite image from Longyearbyen, Norway, captures stages of a total solar eclipse. Just before and after totality, glimpses of the solar disk create "diamond rings" and "Baily's beads." These phenomena occur as the last rays of sunlight shine through valleys and around mountains on the Moon's limb. The inner corona of the Sun is also visible, glowing around the lunar silhouette.
