COSMIC MESSAGE
The sky near Antares and Rho Ophiuchi is a mix of colors from different processes. Blue reflection nebulae are fine dust illuminated by starlight from the front. Reddish emission nebulae are gaseous clouds with atoms excited by ultraviolet starlight. Dark dust clouds block starlight, appearing as silhouettes. Antares, a red supergiant, lights up the yellow-red clouds in the lower center.
