COSMIC MESSAGE
The Lagoon Nebula, also known as M8, is a turbulent region of glowing interstellar gas and dark dust clouds. This bright star-forming region is about 5,000 light-years away. It is a popular target for telescopes in the constellation Sagittarius, towards the center of our Milky Way Galaxy. The red emission comes from ionized hydrogen atoms.
