The Seagull Nebula is a broad expanse of glowing gas and dust, resembling a bird in flight. This cosmic bird spans about 1.6 degrees across the plane of the Milky Way, near Sirius in Canis Major. The region includes NGC 2327, a compact, dusty emission region with an embedded massive star that forms the bird's 'head'.
