Antarctic Analemma

NASA APOD · Adrianos Golemis
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Sun does not return to the same spot in the sky every day. Instead, it traces out a figure-eight shape over a year, called an analemma. This image, taken near Concordia Station in Antarctica, shows the Sun's position at 4 PM over several weeks. It is believed to be the first analemma ever constructed from Antarctica.
