In 2001, the Leonids meteor shower put on a spectacular display over Monument Valley. This composite image captures the event, with meteors appearing to streak from a single point in the sky. Earth was passing through a dense trail of debris left by Comet Tempel-Tuttle, causing meteor rates to reach nearly one per second.
