Mars has two tiny moons, Phobos and Deimos, named for Fear and Panic. Phobos, the larger moon, is shown here in a color image from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. This cratered, asteroid-like object is doomed, as it is slowly spiraling inward toward Mars and will eventually either crash into the planet or break apart.
