An Airglow Fan from Lake to Sky
NASA APOD · Dave Lane;

COSMIC MESSAGE
This fan-like green glow, captured near Bryce Canyon, is called airglow. It appears to rise from the lake through the arch of the Milky Way. Airglow is caused by atmospheric gravity waves, ripples of air pressure about 90 kilometers up. Unlike auroras, airglow is not powered by energetic charged particles and can be seen at lower latitudes.
