COSMIC MESSAGE
Japan launched the Hitomi X-ray satellite on February 17, 2016. The H-IIA rocket carried the observatory from JAXA's Tanegashima Space Center. Hitomi was designed to study extreme cosmic events, from black holes to galaxy clusters, using four X-ray telescopes. Its instruments were sensitive to photon energies from 300 to 600,000 electron volts.
