COSMIC MESSAGE
A waning crescent moon and early morning twilight cannot hide the central Milky Way in this skyscape from Oman. Captured in a single exposure, the view looks southward across a grand canyon from Jabal Shams. Mist, moonlight, and shadows play along the steep canyon walls. Dark rifts within the Milky Way's luminous band are cosmic dust clouds.
