NASA APOD · Federico Pelliccia
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Iris Nebula, NGC 7023, is located 1,300 light-years away in the constellation Cepheus. This deep telescopic image reveals the nebula's intricate colors and symmetries. Dusty nebular material surrounds a hot, young star within the Iris. The dominant blue color of the reflection nebula is caused by starlight scattering off the dust particles.
