COSMIC MESSAGE
Comet PanSTARRS, seen here from Siding Spring Observatory, passed within 5.3 light-minutes of Earth in 2016. Its green coma, the cloud of gas and dust surrounding the nucleus, was about the apparent size of the full Moon. The comet's tail stretched across the field of view in the constellation Piscis Austrinus.
