COSMIC MESSAGE
The Eagle Nebula, also known as M16, is a star-forming region 7,000 light-years away in Serpens. This image, taken by the Herschel Space Observatory, shows the nebula in far-infrared light. This allows us to see through the cold dust and gas where new stars are being born. The famous Pillars of Creation are part of this region.
