COSMIC MESSAGE

The Andromeda Galaxy, also known as M31, is our nearest large spiral galaxy. It sits two and a half million light years away. This mosaic of images shows the galaxy's dark dust lanes, bright core, and spiral arms. Faint reddish clouds of glowing hydrogen gas are visible in the wide field.
