Mimas is a small, icy moon of Saturn, only 400 kilometers in diameter. Its most prominent feature is the Herschel crater, nearly 140 kilometers wide. This crater gives Mimas a distinct, almost ominous, appearance. Scientists believe an impact only slightly larger than the one that formed Herschel could have destroyed Mimas entirely.
