COSMIC MESSAGE

This image captures a chance alignment of an airplane and the Moon. The airplane's contrail appears red because of how the setting Sun's light interacts with Earth's atmosphere. The young Moon, far in the distance, shows only a sliver of its illuminated face. This happens when the Sun is almost directly behind it, from our perspective on Earth.
