COSMIC MESSAGE
Apollo 17 commander Eugene Cernan captured this stereo view of the Moon on December 11, 1972, before descending to land. The anaglyph was assembled from two photographs taken from the Lunar Module Challenger. It shows the broad, sunlit face of the Moon as Cernan and Dr. Harrison Schmitt flew over the Taurus-Littrow Valley landing site.
