COSMIC MESSAGE
Four laser beams cut across the Orion Nebula in this image from ESO's Paranal Observatory. These aren't signs of interstellar conflict, but rather part of an adaptive optics system on UT4, one of the observatory's Very Large Telescopes. The lasers sharpen observations of Orion, captured here by a smaller telescope outside the UT4 enclosure.
