Exploring the Antennae

COSMIC MESSAGE

Sixty million light-years away, two large galaxies, NGC 4038 and NGC 4039, are colliding in the constellation Corvus. While stars rarely collide, the galaxies' clouds of gas and dust frequently do, triggering furious star formation. This cosmic wreckage spans over 500,000 light-years.
