Central Cygnus Skyscape

This cosmic skyscape unfolds across the plane of our Milky Way Galaxy, near the center of the constellation Cygnus the Swan. A 36-panel mosaic, the scene spans about six degrees. The bright supergiant star Gamma Cygni, also known as Sadr, is in the foreground of complex gas and dust clouds. Left of Gamma Cygni, two luminous arcs form the Butterfly Nebula.
