NGC 4565, also known as the Needle Galaxy, is a spiral galaxy seen edge-on from Earth. This sharp image reveals its bulging central core, cut by dust lanes that trace its thin galactic plane. It sits in the constellation Coma Berenices, a stop on many telescopic tours of the northern sky.
