COSMIC MESSAGE

This telescopic field of view spans about one degree in the constellation Cepheus. Open cluster NGC 6939, about 5,000 light-years away, is near the top. Face-on spiral galaxy NGC 6946, nearly 22 million light-years distant, is toward the lower left. Red lines identify the recently discovered supernova SN 2017eaw within the galaxy.
