COSMIC MESSAGE
The Sun's corona shimmers around the New Moon during a total solar eclipse. This image, a composite of telephoto and wide-angle frames, was taken in 1999 near Kastamonu, Turkey. That eclipse was a member of Saros 145, a cycle that predicts the return of the Sun, Earth, and Moon to the same geometric alignment.
