Dark Molecular Cloud Barnard 68
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Barnard 68 is a dark molecular cloud in the constellation Ophiuchus. It appears as a black void because a dense concentration of dust and gas blocks visible light from background stars. These clouds are some of the coldest and most isolated places in the universe. They are also stellar nurseries, where new stars eventually form from the collapsing gas.
