COSMIC MESSAGE
Lynds Dark Nebula 183 is a cold, dark cloud of dust about 325 light-years from Earth. It sits high above the plane of our Milky Way galaxy, in the direction of Serpens Caput. While it blocks starlight in optical views, infrared observations show dense clumps within it, where new stars are beginning to form.
