COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 891 is a spiral galaxy in Andromeda, seen almost exactly edge-on, 30 million light-years distant. It is 100,000 light-years across, looking much like our own Milky Way. Its disk and central bulge are cut along the middle by dust lanes. The faint galaxies of Abell 347 are 250 million light-years away, far beyond NGC 891.
