COSMIC MESSAGE
3200 Phaethon is an asteroid responsible for the annual Geminid meteor shower. Unlike most meteor shower parents, which are comets, Phaethon is a rocky, sun-baked asteroid. Its orbit brings it closer to the Sun than Mercury. This image shows the asteroid's rapid movement across the sky.
