Cyclones at Jupiter's North Pole

This view of cyclones at Jupiter's North Pole was constructed using data from Juno's Jovian Infrared Auroral Mapper. The infrared observations measure thermal emission from Jupiter's cloud tops, allowing views beyond the sunlit hemisphere. They reveal eight cyclones surrounding a 4,000-kilometer-diameter cyclone, slightly offset from the planet's North Pole. Similar data show a cyclone at the South Pole with five surrounding cyclones.
