COSMIC MESSAGE
NGC 253 is one of the brightest and dustiest spiral galaxies we can see. Some call it the Silver Dollar Galaxy, or the Sculptor Galaxy for its location in the southern constellation Sculptor. Discovered in 1783 by Caroline Herschel, this galaxy is only 10 million light-years away. It spans about 70,000 light-years and is the largest member of the Sculptor group.
