The Andromeda Galaxy, M31, is the most distant object visible to the unaided eye, over two million light-years away. Without a telescope, it appears as a faint cloud in the constellation Andromeda. This fifteen-hour telescopic mosaic reveals its bright white nucleus, dark dust lanes, and luminous blue spiral arms.
