COSMIC MESSAGE
Jupiter shines brightly in the Hawaiian night sky, easily the brightest celestial beacon in this scene. The panoramic view shows the Kilauea caldera with Halemaumau crater, where smoke and steam blow. This image was taken earlier this year, before the recent increase in volcanic activity. Jupiter, about 484 million miles from the Sun, remains a prominent feature in our night sky.
