Moon, Mars, and Milky Way

Two weeks ago, the dark skies over northern Iran offered this view. The Moon and Mars appear alongside the Milky Way's dusty rifts, stars, and nebulae. The otherwise full Moon is immersed in Earth's shadow, appearing fainter and redder than Mars during a total lunar eclipse. This digital mosaic combines multiple exposures to capture the range in brightness.
