COSMIC MESSAGE
The Tarantula Nebula, also known as 30 Doradus, is a star-forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud. It is over a thousand light-years across, and is the largest and most violent star-forming region in our Local Group of galaxies. This view, taken with a narrowband filter, highlights the emission from ionized hydrogen atoms. The nebula is about 180,000 light-years away.
