COSMIC MESSAGE

Magnetic fields can influence how stars form, as shown by data from the HAWC+ instrument on the SOFIA observatory in Orion. HAWC+ measures the polarization of far-infrared light, revealing how dust grains align with ambient magnetic fields. These magnetic fields are overlaid as curvy lines on an infrared image of the Orion Nebula. This research helps us understand the complex physics of star formation.
