Comet Iwamoto (C/2018 Y1) shares this telescopic view with stars and nebulae in the constellation Auriga. The comet's greenish coma and faint tail are visible between reddish emission nebulae and the open star cluster M36. The reddish emission comes from hydrogen gas ionized by hot stars. This region is part of a giant molecular cloud about 6,000 light-years away.
