Meteors, Comet, and Big Dipper over La Palma
NASA APOD · Vincent Duparc
COSMIC MESSAGE
Meteor showers are caused by streams of solid particles, mostly dust from comets, moving through space. When Earth passes through a stream, the particles create brilliant trails as they disintegrate in our atmosphere. The paths appear to originate from a single point due to perspective.
