The Triangulum galaxy, M33, was never in danger from this meteor. The galaxy is much bigger than the tiny rock at the meteor's head and much farther away, 3 million light years versus about 0.0003 light seconds. The meteor's path took it angularly below the galaxy, and the wind in Earth's atmosphere blew its glowing trail away from the galaxy.
