COSMIC MESSAGE
These delicate filaments of shocked, glowing gas form the western part of the Veil Nebula, draped across the sky in Cygnus. The Veil Nebula is a large supernova remnant, an expanding cloud born from a massive star's death explosion. Light from the original supernova likely reached Earth over 5,000 years ago, as the interstellar shock wave excites the gas.
