NASA APOD · Robert Eder
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Tulip Nebula, also known as Sharpless 2-101, is a reddish glow of interstellar gas and dust in the constellation Cygnus, the Swan. This telescopic view captures the nebula, about 8,000 light-years distant and 70 light-years across. It's an emission region, meaning its gas is energized and emitting light, framed by a field of stars along the plane of our Milky Way Galaxy.
