The OSIRIS-REx spacecraft successfully touched asteroid Bennu to collect a sample on October 20, 2020. Its sampling head, called TAGSAM, is seen crushing rocks on the asteroid's surface in this close-up image. This "Touch-And-Go" event occurred 321 million kilometers from Earth. The spacecraft fired nitrogen gas a second later to stir up material, securing the precious sample now on its way back to Earth.
