COSMIC MESSAGE
These bright, flowing shapes, IC 59 and IC 63, look like cosmic ghosts in the constellation Cassiopeia. About 600 light-years away, these clouds are slowly being eroded by energetic radiation from the hot, luminous star Gamma Cas. Gamma Cas is only 3 to 4 light-years from the nebulae, its intense light pushing away the dust and gas, causing them to gradually disappear.
