COSMIC MESSAGE

The Trifid Nebula, Messier 20, is an active star-forming region about 5,000 light-years away in Sagittarius. It is only about 300,000 years old, making it one of the youngest such regions we observe. The nebula shares this field with open star cluster Messier 21 and is trisected by dark dust lanes.
