Comet Leonard, 2021's brightest comet, is shown with its tail stretching an amazing 60 degrees across the sky. These images were captured from the dark skies of the Atacama Desert. The comet's complex ion tail is visible, with bright Jupiter shining near the horizon. The tail is formed by material vaporizing from the comet's nucleus.
