Messier 106, also known as NGC 4258, is a large spiral galaxy about 23.5 million light-years away. It dominates this telescopic view in the constellation Canes Venatici. The galaxy spans about 80,000 light-years across. M106 is the largest member of the Canes II galaxy group, and its distance is well-known due to direct measurements of its rotating water masers.
