COSMIC MESSAGE
A new visitor from the Oort Cloud, Comet PanSTARRs, C/2017 T2, passed through our inner solar system in 2020. This image from May 2020 shows it with the galaxies M81 and M82, about 12 million light-years away. PanSTARRs was discovered by the Pan-STARRS survey telescope in 2017, when it was almost as distant as Saturn. It has a beautiful coma, or atmosphere of gas and dust.
