Bright Planetary Nebula NGC 7027 from Hubble

This is a planetary nebula, the last stage of a star like our Sun. NGC 7027 is one of the smallest and brightest known. This Hubble image shows shells of gas in blue, and recently ejected gas and dust in red. It began expanding about 600 years ago.
