Colors of the Moon

The Moon's color changes depending on how we see it from Earth. From space, it's a brownish-gray, reflecting sunlight. But through our atmosphere, it can look very different. This image shows the full Moon in various colors, captured by an astrophotographer over ten years in Italy. A red or yellow Moon often means it is low on the horizon, seen through more of Earth's air.
