Lunar Craters Langrenus and Petavius

NASA APOD · Eduardo Schaberger Poupeau
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Moon's history is written in its craters, like Langrenus on the left and Petavius on the right. Langrenus is about 130 kilometers wide, with a terraced rim and a central peak. Petavius is larger, 180 kilometers across, and has a distinctive fracture running from its center. Both formed from separate impacts, preserving a record of lunar bombardment.
