This image from the NEAR Shoemaker spacecraft provides a stereo view of asteroid 433 Eros. Eros, named for the Greek god of love, orbits the Sun every 1.8 years. Its shape is more like a lumpy potato, measuring 40 by 14 by 14 kilometers, with undulating horizons, craters, boulders, and valleys.
